Big Tømtehytta: a visit from a friendly toad
15:00
On our trip to the "little" Tømtehytte, we also popped our heads into the "big" one to check it out (they're only a few metres apart). The bigger cabin hasn't been renovated as recently as the small one and is much more quaint. We didn't need that much space and felt we made the right call by staying in the smaller one.
We headed back along the 7.5km route to catch the bus shortly after breakfast, but not before devoting some time to checking out this toad who was trying to make his (or her) way up the front steps and into the cabin.
The hike was great: mostly rolling hills (in and out of the woods), and farmland. The route passes by both Tømte farm and Liggern Farm and was mostly downhill. As an added bonus (and as the sign had promised us) it was less steep than the shorter hike we had taken in the night before.

Near the end of our hike we found ourselves with some time to kill until the next bus so we found a sunny spot right near a little waterfall (with a bench to boot) to take a break and have lunch.

All in all, it was a great mid-week trip! If I were to do it again, the only thing I'd do differently would be to reverse our hike to take the long way in and the short way out so that we might have had the energy to visit the lookout on the shorter side of the hike.
